Applying for a job
How applying works, who reads your application and when you hear back.
Updated
Every job on HumanFirstJobs promises that a person, not AI, reads your application and runs your interviews. Each job also shows its salary range, the person who reads applications, and the date by which you will hear back.
Two ways to apply
- On HumanFirstJobs. Most jobs take applications here. You send your saved resume and profile, and can add a short note. Your application lands in the employer's inbox, where the named person reads it.
- On the employer's own site. Some jobs link to the employer's careers page instead. If you're signed in when you click Apply, we add the job to your applications so you can keep track of it and report AI use if it happens.
You need an account and a saved resume to apply on HumanFirstJobs. You can't apply to the same job twice.
Hearing back
Every employer promises to reply within 7, 14 or 21 days, and the job shows which. If the promised date passes without a reply, we remind the employer and tell you. Employers' reply records show on their jobs, so you can see who keeps their promise.
Tracking your applications
Your Applications page lists everything you've applied to, its status, and the date you were promised a reply. You can withdraw an application there at any time.
